Stopping Spam
Before it gets into your network
SpamSquelcher was the
brainchild of my good friend David Brussin, employing concepts that emerged from some intensive brain-storming sessions that took place in 2001 around the idea of "email protection." SpamSquelcher is based on the fact that spammers
cannot afford to send spam to networks that are slow. So SpamSquelcher, which became TurnTide and later the Symantec BrightMail Traffic Shaper, makes
your network look, to a spammer, like it is on a slow dialup modem,
even though you might be on a T3. Your regular email comes in just as
fast as before, if not faster, and the result is less spam,
better performance.
